Akana Claims Management
Tom Schulte is a co-founder and the Chief Claims Officer of Akana Claims Management. He is also the founder of Schulte Law Office, LLC, a transportation-focused litigation firm based in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he serves as National Counsel for KLB Services. He brings more than two decades of front-line experience defending motor carriers, freight brokers, freight forwarders, third-party logistics providers, and transportation companies in complex, high-exposure litigation throughout the United States.
Tom concentrates his practice on defending catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and serious highway accident claims involving commercial transportation operations. He is regularly retained immediately following major accidents to coordinate rapid-response investigations, preserve critical evidence, work alongside accident reconstruction experts, and develop defense strategies designed to protect companies, their insurers, and their assets.
As national defense counsel for numerous large trucking companies, Tom has coordinated accident litigation and claims management across multiple jurisdictions in state and federal courts. This nationwide perspective—and his deep understanding of the full claims lifecycle, from first notice of loss through trial—is what he and his co-founders channeled into building Akana's innovative, rapid-response claims model.
Beyond litigation, Tom advises transportation companies on risk management, broker liability exposure, indemnity obligations, insurance coverage issues, and corporate asset protection. His practice also includes representing transportation intermediaries and logistics companies in complex matters involving contractual liability and federal transportation regulations.
At Akana, Tom draws on that litigation background to help transportation companies build smarter, faster, and more cost-effective claims programs. He and his partners founded Akana after developing and testing their rapid-response techniques firsthand while managing claims for a large trucking company—recognizing that the traditional claims handling model was broken and that a better way was possible.
