Throughout her career, Monica has developed a reputation for rigorous fact-finding, strategic case analysis, and unwavering commitment to justice. She has been instrumental in supporting and defending high-stakes matters before the International Criminal Court and other contested proceedings around the globe

The skills Monica developed in these high-stakes cases form the fabric of her work: building rapport and connection with individuals in tense situations and adjusting claims empathically at Akana. Monica began her investigative career in the early 1990s, rapidly distinguishing herself in complex capital litigation and criminal defense cases. Early assignments included case work for the government and private law firms handling serious criminal allegations, where her ability to gather reliable witness statements, secure critical evidence, and analyze forensic data became widely recognized.

Over time, she expanded her repertoire to include insurance defense investigations, partnering with leading carriers and risk retention groups to evaluate liability, assess damages, and manage claims risk. She has been the lead investigator or a behind-the-scenes operative in many high-profile cases including media outlets and networks, professional athletes and celebrities, white collar crimes, multi-defendant international drug trafficking matters, civil defamation matters and political campaigns throughout the country.

Some of her investigations have exposed corruption within the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Corrections, Department of Children & Family Services, Department of Transportation, political campaign fund violations, public corruption, sexual harassment and wrongful arrests and prosecutions.

In recent years, Monica has served as an independent adjuster on a broad array of property and casualty losses ranging from large-scale commercial property damage to sensitive personal injury claims. Her impartial approach, strong negotiation skills, and technical understanding of policy language consistently result in fair and efficient resolutions for insurers and claimants alike.
