Autonomous trucks and other new trucking technologies carry with them the promises of improved safety, increased efficiency and reduced fuel emissions and a panoply of other benefits but also pose a range of open questions as to how these technologies will impact liability and how it will be apportioned between AV developers, OEMs and Tier 1s, and fleets. In addition, the novelty of AV and other technology also prompts questions regarding how analogous case law can and will be applied. Finally, these questions as to liability also carry with them questions as to how insurance will evolve to address this technology and these questions. In this interactive session we will explore those questions and more from the lens of an experienced litigator and chair of his firm's Trucking/Motor Carrier Litigation Practice Group, a Chief Legal Officer of a large truckload carrier, and a General Counsel of a AV truck developer. We look forward to a spirited discussion between them and the audience.
